A Trip To The Sun's Game

All Little Robert wanted for his birthday was a trip to the Sun's Game. We gave him the option of a Saturday afternoon game or a Friday evening game, complete with fireworks! Of course, he chose the latter, so we obliged! We had front row seats as they played Chattanooga (the suns lost!). The kiddos and daddy had a great time and, just like last time, Little Robert became rather close to our neighbor!

JHSK - Field Day!

On Monday, we attended JHSK's Field Day and from what we had heard, this would be FUN!!
We were told to wear comfy clothes, bring lots of water, a picnic lunch, and great attitudes! The kiddos were beyond excited, but I was a bit timid as I only knew what Field Day's were like growing up, and while they were GREAT, there was SO much competition and I am just not ready for that. A little is fine and healthy, but I do not want it to be s/he is better than me, etc etc. I was quite relieved to see that all of my fears were put to rest and it was a fabulous day. . . except for me forgetting sunscreen!!

Before we were able to have any fun however, we had to get through school in the morning. The kiddos all know the rules and barely complained or moaned as they knew that that would just be a waste of time - I love that they are learning these little facts! We also had our cousins, Dylan (7) and Daniel (6), with us as Christ the King was out for the day. After everyone was finished with school and our chores were complete, we loaded into the van and headed out!

As soon as the festivities began, we separated the kiddos into "Bigs" (8 and older) / "Littles" (7 and under) and then it was time to start! Within our "Littles" group, we attempted to split them into 2 teams, but everyone who has ever been around an excited little kiddo knows how well this goes. . . So, we just decided to do our best and HAVE FUN!

Our first game was the balloon race. You took 2 drumsticks and ran to the bag of balloons. Picked up a balloon then ran back and dropped it into a laundry basket.  Now, the  "olders" counted the balloons and followed the rules, but the "littles" just had fun. . . if they even wanted to play!

After this, we moved onto the changing clothes relay. You had to put on a pair of pants, a shirt, and a jacket. Then run around a tree and return to the starting point where you would take them all off and pass them to the next player. I was laughing so hard with this one, plus we had kiddos switching teams right and left that there were no pictures taken! This one was absolutely one of my favorite though!

After this, we had the "Blanket Pull." I am assuming that this was meant to be a race, but with the little kiddos it was more of a challenge than anything, so it was just a group effort and a HUGE hit with them! (Robert would let NO ONE pull Hannah!)

In between this activity and the next, there was a break and this is when I caught this moment:
After our little break and lunch, it was time for our last activity - the hula hoop game. You know, the one where you snake a hula hoop over each other while holding hands? I expected this one to be VERY difficult, but in fact, it was not. . . and once again, it was quite a hit!

After the games were said and done, we played for a bit. Hannah and Wesley enjoyed playing on the playset with Joce. Robert, Dylan, and Daniel enjoyed playing kickball with the other kiddos. Aahliya enjoyed some good snuggles with me. We all had a great time and were absolutely exhausted by the time we left - but it was the good exhausted. The "worth every minute of fun that was had" exhausted!

Last night, while I was at the gym attempting to get some endorphins going, my phone buzzed. I opened it up and it was a picture from daddy -
apparently somebody had so much fun they could not wait for bed - I just wish that it had been my arms instead of the couch!

*Update* Disabled List

I wrote a post the other night about Little Robert's rather untimely encounter with a very hard, very pink baseball, and I wanted to update since it looks EVEN better! And there is even a funny story, but first the picture:
*Monday Night*
*Sunday Night*
Okay, now the Proud Mommy Moment/Funny Story:

Last night while I was helping our neighbor out, Daddy had the pleasure of playing single parent. While I was at the neighbors house, he served dinner, gave baths, took the kiddos for a walk around the block and did bedtime. During the walk around the block, they ran into several people walking their dogs. Of course, each one asked what happened and Little Robert would tell them about the baseball, nothing about daddy. . . UNTIL the police sergeant asked. This time, all Little offered was that "my daddy hit me." Great answer to give a cop still in uniform! Daddy quickly added the missing details and the cop had a better understanding! Little Robert's wittiness sure made me proud though!

Also, we went to Chick-fil-A for their inside playground this morning. While there, one of the ladies asked Little Robert what happened. . . He turned and winked at me then told the lady that "my daddy hit me with a baseball bat!" Everybody that heard it just laughed and, like daddy last night, I added in the missing detail!

Needless to say, I think that he is somewhat enjoying this injury. . . I just hope that he does not try it again!

Disabled List

Well, Little Robert has officially been placed on Team Riker's disabled list. . .

Tonight, we went to a local park to just burn some energy since it was SO gorgeous outside (and we needed to get out of the confines of this address for a bit), so Daddy and I took the kiddos to the same park from last night. We all had a great time, just being together. Playing. Sharing Laughs. It was fabulous!

Hannah, Wesley, and I played catch and raced going up/down the slides, while Daddy and Little Robert played baseball - both hitting and catching the balls. We were all having a great time and enjoying every minute of it. The giggles coming from the park, completely warmed my heart!

Finally, Little Robert decided that he would go sit at the other end of the park and Daddy would hit the ball to him. Little Robert did not move from his spot the entire time, until Daddy ran out of t-balls and had to use the very last ball-->, a HARD, pink baseball.

As soon as it was hit, both Daddy and I shared the same thought - MOVE NOW - but we could not get the words out before we heard. . .

THE SCREAMS!
Now, I am NOT a runner, but I ran faster than I ever have. Daddy, who is a runner, had a head start as I was still in the jungle gym, but I got there right after he scooped Little Robert up. Immediately, I looked for blood. Asked where the exact injury was. Checked teeth. Went through the 'Mommy Check List,' all while Daddy continued to snuggle and provide the comfort that he desired. At one point, I heard Little Robert whisper into his ear, "It's okay, Daddy. It was an accident." When I was able, I stepped back and realized that there was NO blood. His teeth are all fine. The *only* thing wrong, is a nasty bump coming up on the bottom of his chin. Boy, was I relieved!

When we saw just how quickly it was swelling, though, Daddy and I decide that we needed to get home and get an ice pack on it ASAP. Hannah and Wesley, knowing that their brother was hurt began to pick up all of their stuff without questions or fits. Wesley even tried to convince us to let him do the keys - UM NO! We gathered our stuff, came home, and had a little photo op!
However, on the way home, Robert and I hear Wesley talking to Little Robert. Wesley is calling Little Robert's name and as soon as he does, Wesley asks him if he is okay! (This is the proud mommy moment!)

I give Little Robert some motrin as I know that his chin has to hurt - it was hit hard! Then dinner and baths. During bath time, we realize that there needs to be another photo op as it was quickly changing. We were not even an hour later, and it was becoming quite colorful! (Robert is excited to see what it looks like in the morning!)
I know, my heart knows, that he will be fine - it is Daddy's heart that has me concerned and worried. As a parent, you never want to bring pain to your child, even if it is an accident. You never want to be the reason for their tears and hurt. So, tonight, my extra prayer will be for Daddy. I pray that he has peace and understands that what Little Robert told him not a minute after the incident is true - "It's okay. It was an accident."
