I am pleasantly surprised to say that we had an incredibly great drive yesterday. There were NO fights, tears, snafus - NOTHING went wrong. We even made it in record (with kiddos) time - 9 1/2 hours. . .
We left the house around 8 am and made a quick stop for gas and coffee then onto the open road. The kiddos were enjoying their movies and were so very excited about going to Jackson, MS to see Grammie and Papa, Aunt RaRa and Uncle Bret, Uncle Michael and Aunt Shelley, Aunt Clare and Uncle Will, Aunt Maura, Aunt Mollie, and Uncle JoJo.
At around 12, we made a quick stop for lunch. The kiddos had been begging for Happy Meals, so we obliged. After lunch, we filled the van up with gas and then back to the open road. The younger two took short naps, while Mommy passed out (I guess that the weeks of like 4 hours of sleep a night caught up to me yesterday as I could NOT keep my eyes opened up!) and then we were back to watching movies, playing games, having fun, and doing great! Among this, there were great moments where my mommy heart was overjoyed - When Little Robert gave Wesley his head phones, so that he could hear 'Ming Ming, Too' (a.k.a. The Wonder Pets).
As we got closer to Jackson, MS, the excitement began to increase greatly within the minivan. We decided to to stop by and see Grammie at the VA Hospital before heading over to my childhood home. Finally at 5:30p, we pulled into the driveway and I could hardly contain my excitement! We all ran inside and were greeted by Papa, who was making one of my favorites - Homemade Chicken and Dumplings! Before much longer, Aunt RaRa joined us, closely followed by Aunt LaLa and Uncle Will.
After dinner, Robert, Hannah, and Wesley found the Wii. They played Baseball, Tennis, Boxing, etc and made great memories with their Aunts. In fact, when they woke at 5:15 this am, it was the first thing they asked to do. . . if only I knew how to work it!
90 minutes or so after we arrived, Uncle Michael and Uncle JoJo returned home from their unsuccessful deer hunting excursion. Even though they smelled terrible, I enjoyed hugging them and seeing them. . .
Aunt Mollie was out babysitting, so we were unable to see her last night, but we at least spoke on the phone, which was nice. Hopefully Monday, Daddy, the kiddos, maybe Grammie, and I will drive down to Magee and see Aunt Maura. . .
It is so nice to be surrounded by most of my siblings. To be back in the chaos. To feel back at home as this will always be home. My heart has needed this. . .
I love being here with my family. Being ably to sit and talk with them. To enjoy each others company. My goal is to enjoy every moment. My prayer is that these moments do not go by too Fast. . .
