Air Show ~ 2011

Sunday, we took the kiddos to see the NAS Jax Air Show. This airshow was honoring "100 years of mission ready men and women." Men and women who fight for our country and even give the ultimate sacrifice. Despite that, the Blue Angels would be there and who can miss them?!?!?!?

Last year was the first year that we actually went out to NAS to see the air show and it was H-O-T! All 5 of us came home dehydrated and sunburned.
(2010) In the shade as it was SO hot everywhere else. . .
This year was completely different. We were all bundled up and were still quite cold! Not to mention the wind. . .
(2011) We could NOT get warm!

Upon arrival, daddy went to grab me a coffee as I desperately needed a pick-me-up. While he was gone, I found an anchor and and decided to have some fun. . .

Once daddy returned we were off to the show to see some excitement! We were all so excited until we got to the gate and realized that my brand new coffee had to be discarded :-(

After passing security (which we turned into a science and social study lesson!), we were off to the excitement! There were all sorts of airplanes and helicopters to be seen. . .

The gentleman in the picture is the pilot of this plane!
The kiddos loved it, but were scared that they had missed the Blue Angels until we walked by where they were waiting to fly. . .

We walked a bit more and than we stopped for a little pick-me-up. . . LOLLI-POPS!

After this, we saw the Bomb Squad showing off next to us and we had to get in on the action!

After we left the Bomb Squad, we decided to leave the tarmac and head to our perch to watch the Blue Angels. We had our backs to the runway when we heard it. . .
BOOM!
It was 10 sticks of dynamite and it terrified the kiddos. Combine that with incredible wind and it is not pleasant. We had eyes full of debris and kiddos that were terrified.

After this performance, we all headed to our little grassy knoll. The older 2 were in the wagon, but my baby had to be carried as he was still scared. He kept repeating "Boom care me. Moke my eye."  :-(

Finally he let me put him down, which left daddy pulling 100lbs of Riker babies!
When we finally arrived at our little perch, it was time to just wait for the fun to begin. It was difficult this year because of the wind and the cold weather, but we had fun and made some memories!

After a good wait, the Blue Angels arrived and the kiddos could not have been happier.

When they were done, we loaded the kiddos up and began the drive home. After about 5 minutes, we looked in the back seat and this is what we saw. . .

I think that it is safe to say that we had a great time!
