The explosion! |

Hannah really enjoyed eating the mentos at first! |
After
P.E. today, we had science club where we performed the
mentos/soda experiment. We had never done this and I had never seen it, but it was enjoyable by all! We took many varieties of soda - diet, clear, colored, dark, pepsi, coke, etc etc. All in all, we had about 10 different 2 liters. Our leader had these nifty little contraptions that contain the mentos until you pull a pin that drops them into the soda.

Adding the mentos. . . |
The kiddos enjoyed filling up the contraptions with mentos. The first group lined up and pulled the pin. This time, the Diet Pepsi shot the highest. And the kiddos for the first time, were able to see this reaction occur. They were impressed to say the least!

Robert not knowing if he was in trouble! |
The first go around, Little Robert and Hannah, unsure of what would happen, just observed. This meant that the second go around, would be their turn and they were excited! Hannah carefully put her mentos in the container and waited for the countdown. Mrs. Kitty, our leader was helping Little Robert put his mentos in when he became a little anxious, and after only 3 mentos, he pulled the pin! Diet coke sprayed everywhere, but especially on Mrs. Kitty! We were all laughing hysterically while Little Robert was trying his best to not laugh as he did not know if he would be in trouble! Needless to say, he was not. In fact, they hugged and laughed afterwards!

The Make-Up Hug between Little Robert and Mrs. Kitty! |
Hannah patiently waited and her turn came. . .
All in all, it was a great time! We talked about it on the way home - I think a good bit of the science behind it is over their head, but they had a great time playing around and being kids!
