Honoring Maura Anne

Maura LOVED her St. Richard Catholic School uniform, but she was not allowed to wear it anywhere but at home. So, without fail, every single time she came home, she would sign for her uniform and start stripping as soon as they pulled into the driveway. It was her favorite. It made her happy. Every single picture of her at home, she is wearing it. In fact, we decided to bury her in it. I am sure she laughed from Heaven above when that was decided!

Anyhow, a dear friend, Mikey Flood, knew this. He knew how much she loved it. He knew just how special it was to us at this sorrowful time and decided to do something a little outside of the box...

The night after Maura went to be with our Heavenly Father, Mikey came over. He pulled some of us aside and asked if it would be rude, painful, hurtful, etc to wear a uniform to the funeral. Of course we loved the idea - so much that we all laughed so very hard that we began to cry.

As Saturday drew near, we were all looking forward to see what he had come up with, but nothing could have prepared us for what he came up with...

Mikey, thank you so much for helping us to honor Maura. Your shirt, along with all of the effort and time you put into it, means more to my family than words can ever express. Your love for Maura and all of us means so very, very much. Thank you!
